Aditya Kher, PhD

Applied Physicist
Quantum and Defense Tech

I’m an applied physicist and systems engineer experienced in both quantum technology and the aerospace & defense industry. I’ve spent my career on R&D projects ranging from quantum sensing and computing to satellite-based remote sensing systems, and have contributed everywhere from experimental and computational research for advanced hardware to rapid development and fielding of operational algorithms. I particularly enjoy mission-oriented technology projects where I can leverage deep physical principles and intuition, whether it’s early-stage R&D or a product that will ship in months.

I developed novel superconducting sensor and amplifier technologies for astronomy instrumentation during my PhD at Caltech, where I was a member of the second cohort of NASA Space Technology Research Fellows and shuttled between campus and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for my research. Prior to the PhD I received an MS from Caltech and a BS from UC San Diego.

Check out the pages describing my professional work relevant to quantum and defense, as well as my independent projects including a radar detection performance model. You can also take a look at my full CV.

When I’m not working, I’m typically reading The Economist, watching an arthouse film at an independent cinema, or doing some spirited driving in the canyons of Southern California.

Feel free to reach out on LinkedIn or email if you want to talk physics, technology, or movies!
